Legal

Terms of Service

Effective date: June 1, 2026

Acceptance

By creating an account or using MOFRD, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What MOFRD is

MOFRD is a legal research, organization, and reference platform. It helps you look up codes, organize the facts of your situation, track deadlines, and prepare matter files for attorney review.

What MOFRD is not

MOFRD does not provide legal advice or legal representation. MOFRD does not rank, assign, or guarantee attorneys. The information presented is sourced from public statutes and verified against the published state and federal codes it cites, but it is not a substitute for the professional judgment of a licensed attorney who knows the specific facts of your situation.

Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. One account per person; accounts are not transferable.

Paid plans

Free-tier access — code lookup, matter type exploration — is available without payment. Paid plans (Matter Pack, Monthly, Annual) unlock matter persistence, document upload, Packet export, and deadline tracking. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Matter Pack purchases are one-time and non-refundable once the Packet has been exported. Subscription plans may be canceled at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period.

Promotional codes

Promotional codes (UAT comp, attorney discount, student discount, insider access) are subject to eligibility verification and may be revoked if obtained fraudulently.

Your data

You own the matter content you create. MOFRD stores it securely and does not use it to train models or sell to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use MOFRD to submit false information for the purpose of harassing or defrauding others, attempt to circumvent access controls or row-level security, reverse engineer or scrape the platform, or impersonate an attorney or legal professional.

Attorney directory & bar verification

This is distinct from the published-code verification of MOFRD’s legal information. Attorneys listed in the MOFRD directory are verified against their state bar records. MOFRD does not guarantee the quality, outcome, or availability of any attorney. Attorney participation is voluntary and opt-in. Any engagement between you and an attorney is a direct relationship governed by your agreement with that attorney, not by MOFRD.

Limitation of liability

MOFRD is provided “as is.” We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of legal information. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MOFRD's liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.
