10 U.S.C. § 1047: Allowance for civilian clothing

is medically evacuated for treatment in a medical facility by reason of an illness or injury incurred or aggravated while on active duty; or after being medically evacuated as described in paragraph (1), is in an authorized travel status from a medical facility to another location approved by the Secretary. discharged for misconduct or unsuitability or under conditions other than honorable; sentenced by a civil court to confinement in a prison; interned or discharged as an alien enemy; or discharged before completion of recruit training under honorable conditions for dependency, hardship, minority, or disability or for the convenience of the Government. Subsection (a) of section 1047 of title 10 , United States Code, as added by subsection (a), shall take effect as of October 1, 2004 , and (subject to subsection (c)) shall apply with respect to clothing furnished, and reimbursement for clothing purchased, on or after that date. With respect to the period beginning on October 1, 2004 , and ending on the date of the enactment of this Act [ Oct. 28, 2004 ], the Secretary of Defense shall provide for subsection (a) of section 1047 of title 10 , United States Code, as added by subsection (a), to be applied as a continuation of the authority provided in section 1319 of the Emergency Wartime Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2003 ( Public Law 108–11 ; 117 Stat. 571 ), as continued in effect during fiscal year 2004 by section 1103 of the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense and for the Reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan, 2004 ( Public Law 108–106 ; 117 Stat. 1214 ).”
