(a) “Real ID driver’s license or identification card” means a driver’s license or identification card that has been issued by a state that has been certified by the Department of Homeland Security to be in compliance with the requirements of the Real ID Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-13) and the regulations adopted pursuant to the act. (b) This section shall become operative on January 1, 2018.
