A county transportation authority may enter into a contract with the Board of Administration of the Public Employees’ Retirement System, and the board may enter into the contract to include all of the employees of the county transportation authority in that retirement system. The employees may be entitled to the same health benefits as are state employees pursuant to Part 5 (commencing with Section 22750) of Division 5 of Title 2 of the Government Code or any other retirement system that the authority determines is in the best interest of its employees.
