(a) The term of office of each member of a district board is four years or until his or her successor qualifies and takes office, except as provided in subdivision (b). (b) In the case of a district formed on or after January 1, 1988, the directors shall serve terms as provided in the Uniform District Election Law, Part 4 (commencing with Section 10500) of Division 10 of the Elections Code.
