(a) Within the territory under his or her jurisdiction, each local health officer may order examinations for tuberculosis infection for the purposes of directing preventive measures for persons in the territory, except those incarcerated in a state correctional institution, for whom the local health officer has reasonable grounds to determine are at heightened risk of tuberculosis exposure. (b) An order for examination pursuant to this section shall be in writing and shall include other terms and conditions as may be necessary to protect the public health.
