(a) The uniform fee for filing the first paper in the action or proceeding described in Section 70611 on behalf of any defendant, intervenor, respondent, or adverse party, whether separately or jointly, except for the purpose of making disclaimer, is three hundred fifty-five dollars ($355). The fee shall be distributed as provided in Section 68085.3. (b) As used in this section, the term “paper” does not include a stipulation for the appointment of a temporary judge or of a court investigator, or the report made by the court investigator.
