The provisions of this part extending rights to a member of this system, or subjecting him or her to any limitation, by reason of his or her membership in a county retirement system , shall apply in like manner and under like conditions to a member of this system by reason of his or her membership in any retirement system maintained by the university, provided that the member entered this system on or after October 1, 1963, and within 90 days of discontinuance of employment as a member of a retirement system maintained by the university, or he or she entered into employment as a member of any system maintained by the university on or after October 1, 1963, and within 90 days of discontinuance of employment as a member of this system; provided, further, that this section shall have no application whatsoever until the Regents of the University of California agree to provide similar benefits under any university system under like conditions. This section shall supersede any provision contained in Section 20037 that is in conflict with this section, with respect to any person who enters university employment or employment in which he or she is a member of this system, on or after October 1, 1963.
