(a) The normal rate of contribution for a local miscellaneous member subject to Section 20553 whose service is not included in the federal system shall be 8.25 percent of the compensation per month paid to the member. (b) The normal rate of contribution for a local miscellaneous member whose service is included in the federal system shall be 8.25 percent of compensation in excess of one hundred thirty-three dollars and thirty-three cents ($133.33) per month paid to the member. The rates of contribution established for local miscellaneous members in this section shall apply only to the compensation paid the member on and after the date that the member becomes subject to Section 20553. This section shall be construed as if it were part of Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 20670).
