The premium or charge for bonds given by surety companies for the officers, herein named, and for their deputies, clerks, assistants or subordinate officers shall be paid as follows: (a) State officers, by the State. (b) County officers, by the county. (c) Officers of a judicial district, by the county in which the district is situated. (d) School districts or other special district officers, by the school district or other special district, respectively. (e) City officers, by the city.
