(a) The secretary shall collect from each producer three and three-tenths mills ($0.0033) per hundredweight of all milk, whether pooled or nonpooled, to defray the reasonable costs of administering this chapter, except costs for which the fund is liable, as provided for in Section 62569. (b) The secretary may fix the rate of the assessment authorized pursuant to subdivision (a) at a lesser or greater amount and may adjust the rate of the assessment as the secretary determines necessary to defray the reasonable costs of administering this chapter. (c) Moneys collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited in the Department of Food and Agriculture Fund, created pursuant to Section 221, and shall be continuously appropriated to the department pursuant to Section 62571.
