(a) “Hospital service plan,” as used in this section means a corporation which is a nonprofit hospital service plan defined in Chapter 11a (commencing with Section 11491) of Part 2 of Division 2 of the Insurance Code. (b) A hospital service plan may be formed under or subject to Part 2 (commencing with Section 5110) or Part 3 (commencing with Section 7110).
