(a) Any reference in this chapter to an investigation by the board shall be deemed to refer to a joint investigation conducted by employees of the Department of Justice and the Health Quality Investigation Unit under the vertical enforcement and prosecution model, as specified in Section 12529.6 of the Government Code. (b) This section shall become operative on July 1, 2014.
