WIC §5978.2: (a) (1) If a petition to initiate CARE Act proceedings has been filed based on a referral pursuant to Section 5978, the CARE Act court and the referring court may communicate with each other regarding

(a) (1) If a petition to initiate CARE Act proceedings has been filed based on a referral pursuant to Section 5978, the CARE Act court and the referring court may communicate with each other regarding the status of respondent’s cases and any relevant court orders while the cases are still pending in both courts. (2) If a petition to initiate CARE Act proceedings has been filed for a respondent within a juvenile court’s dependency, delinquency, or transition jurisdiction, the CARE Act court and the juvenile court may communicate with each other regarding the status of respondent’s cases and any relevant court orders while the cases are still pending in both courts. (b) The court may allow the parties to participate in the communication. All communications about the disposition of a respondent’s case shall be conducted in court and on the record. (c) Communication between courts on schedules, calendars, court records, and similar matters may occur without informing the parties. A record need not be made of the communication. (d) Except as otherwise provided in subdivision (c), a record must be made of a communication pursuant to this section. The parties shall be informed promptly of the communication and granted access to the record. (e) For the purposes of this section, “record” means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in perceivable form.
