(a) Subdivisions (a) and (e) of Section 1010.6 of the Code of Civil Procedure, pertaining to the permissive filing and service of documents, are applicable to criminal actions, except as otherwise provided in Section 959.1 or any other provision of this code. (b) The Judicial Council shall adopt uniform rules for the electronic filing and service of documents in criminal cases in the trial courts of this state.
