(a) No insurer shall downgrade the rating, or otherwise adversely affect the insurability, of a person insured under Section 11622.1 solely because of that person’s participation in the assigned risk plan or because that person contracts with a person insured under Section 11622.1. (b) An insurer violating subdivision (a) is subject to the penalties set forth in Section 11626, and shall restore the insurance rating, insurability, and coverage of any person harmed by the violation.
