(a) No policy of disability insurance providing loss of time benefits shall contain any provision for a reduction of such benefits during a benefit period because of an increase in benefits payable under the Federal Social Security Act, as amended. (b) No self-insured employee welfare benefit plan providing loss of time benefits shall contain any provision for a reduction of such benefits during a benefit period because of an increase in benefits payable under the Federal Social Security Act, as amended. (c) This section shall apply to all disability insurance policies issued, delivered, amended, or renewed in this state on or after January 1, 1977, and shall apply to group disability insurance policies and self-insured employee welfare benefit plans which are entered into, amended, or renewed on or after such date or upon the expiration of any applicable collective-bargaining agreement, whichever occurs later.
