HSC §25244.17: The department may establish a technical and research assistance program to assist businesses in identifying and applying methods of pollution prevention.

The department may establish a technical and research assistance program to assist businesses in identifying and applying methods of pollution prevention. The program shall emphasize assistance to smaller businesses that have inadequate technical and financial resources for obtaining information, assessing pollution prevention methods, and developing and applying pollution prevention techniques. The program be carried out by the department pursuant to this section may include, but is not limited to, each of the following: (a) Programs by private or public consultants, including onsite consultation at sites or locations where hazardous waste is generated, to aid those generators requiring assistance in developing and implementing the review and plan, the plan summary, the report, and the report summary required by this article. (b) Seminars, workshops, training programs, and other similar activities to assist businesses to evaluate pollution prevention alternatives and to identify opportunities for pollution prevention. (c) Assembling, cataloging, and disseminating information about pollution prevention methods, available consultant services, and regulatory requirements. (d) The identification of a range of generic and specified technical pollution prevention solutions that can be applied by particular types of businesses.
