(a) Nothing in this chapter shall prohibit a health care service plan from entering into a contract with a dental college approved by the Board of Dental Examiners of California under which the dental college provides for or arranges for the provision of dental care to enrollees of the plan through the practice of dentistry by either of the following: (1) Bona fide students of dentistry or dental hygiene operating under subdivision (b) of Section 1626 of the Business and Professions Code. (2) Bona fide clinicians or instructors operating under subdivision (c) of Section 1626 of the Business and Professions Code. (b) A plan that contracts with a dental college for the delivery of dental care pursuant to subdivision (a) shall disclose to enrollees in the disclosure form and the evidence of coverage, or the combined evidence of coverage and disclosure form, and, if the plan provides a listing of providers to the enrollees, in the listing of providers, that the dental care provided by the dental college will be provided by students of dentistry or dental hygiene and clinicians or instructors of the dental college.
