(a) The State Fire Marshal shall establish additional training standards that include the criteria for curriculum content recommended by the Statewide Training and Education Advisory Committee involving peer-to-peer suicide prevention programming. (b) The State Fire Marshal shall coordinate with the California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Program for the development and delivery of curriculum content criteria specified in subdivision (a). (c) All paid personnel assigned to field duties in a state or local fire department or fire protection or firefighting agency may receive the appropriate training described in this section. (d) The State Fire Marshal shall make the curriculum content criteria developed pursuant to this section available to the Emergency Medical Services Authority. (e) The implementation of this section is contingent upon an appropriation of funds in the annual Budget Act or another statute for purposes of this section.
