(a) Each local agency shall develop materials relating to the requirements of the federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. Sec. 12101 et seq.). The local agency shall provide these materials to an applicant along with notice that approval of a permit does not signify that the applicant has complied with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. (b) For the purposes of complying with the requirements of subdivision (a), a local agency may, in lieu of developing its own materials, provide applicants with those materials which the California Commission on Disability Access has developed and made available pursuant to Section 8299.06.
