(a) The Western Joshua Tree Mitigation Fund, created by the commission pursuant to Section 749.10 of Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations, is hereby continued in existence by this chapter, and is renamed the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Fund. Notwithstanding Section 13340 of the Government Code, any moneys in the fund are continuously appropriated to the department solely for the purposes of acquiring, conserving, and managing western Joshua tree conservation lands and completing other activities to conserve the western Joshua tree. (b) All fees remitted to the department pursuant to this chapter shall be deposited into the fund. (c) The fund may also receive other funding to support the conservation of the western Joshua tree.
