(a) Notwithstanding any provision of law, trade secrets, as defined in Section 3426.1 of the Civil Code, shall not be subject to disclosure. This information shall be redacted from auxiliary organization records before disclosure. (b) For purposes of this section, “trade secrets” means information, including a formula, pattern, compilation, program, device, method, technique, or process, that does both of the following: (1) Derives independent economic value, actual or potential, from not being generally known to the public or to other persons who can obtain economic value from its disclosure or use. (2) Is the subject of efforts that are reasonable under the circumstances to maintain its secrecy.
