(a) The commission shall establish a nonpersonally identifiable educator identification number for each educator to whom it issues a credential, certificate, permit, or other document authorizing that individual to provide a service in the public schools. The nonpersonally identifiable educator identification number shall be used for sharing data, including, but not limited to, information obtained pursuant to Sections 44225.6 and 44258.9, with local educational agencies and the department. This identification number may also be used to disclose data pursuant to subdivision (t) of Section 1798.24 of the Civil Code. (b) For purposes of this section, “local educational agency” means a school district, county office of education, charter school, or state special school.
